Growstar Review – 1000W Optical Lens (Full Spectrum) – LED Grow Light Review
The Brand
We have been asked a lot recently about the last Growstar product line, we managed to get the 600W and 1000W versions and we put them to the test. Read our Growstar LED review below. Growstar products are similar to brands like Viparspectra in the mid-range category. We also have been impressed by the build quality and light efficiency at this price point.
Growstar’s new product line also offers optical lens LEDs and 12-band full spectrum (Veg/Bloom switch). They are priced between 149$ and 249$ depending on the wattage and are a good choice for growers looking for an efficient light without breaking the bank.
Lastly, don’t forget that power is only one of the factors to consider when purchasing a LED grow light. When comparing grow lighting options there is a lot of information provided that simply does not cover the important characteristics of the equipment. For example, light “watts”: the watts of a light is a measurement of the power consumed. So it does not tell you anything about the quality of the light delivered. However, Watts can be important for determining your future electric bill, your thermal signature and for comparing the relative size of the light. But not for the quality of the lighting delivered. Hence, the two key measurements that matter in comparing the quality of the light delivered are the spectrum that the light includes (ie, the colors the light creates).

OUR VERDICT
Pros :
- Firstly, Growstar products are extremely well built and the materials are good quality, it’s a good choice for the middle-term on a small/average crop.
- Works well for soil planted plants but also for hydroponics.
- A good alternative to other mid-range brands like Viparspectra.
- Lastly, the Growstar 1000W Optical-Lens provides a full spectrum for the whole growing period.
Cons :
- Shorter warranty compared to some other brands.
- Limited power on the 600W model, we advise the 1000W that is worth the extra money and still remains in a reasonable price range.
