LED Best for Grow Lighting?
We have been beating the drum trying to convince everyone that LED Best for Grow Lighting, for the past five years. Back when we started this campaign there was a lot of debate and confusion and many people who did not agree. However, the tide seems to be turning.
There remain many grow light options and many debaters, but at this point our survey results show well over 60% of the growing community has seen the “light” and recognize LED best for Grow Lighting. The rest of the community recommend a variety of the other options, and are probably the folks who had a big investment in that other lighting, or are actually selling a different format light. The facts also support LED and are remain the same:
- LEDs deliver the right spectrum to support veg and flower phases
- LEDs consume 75% less power than other lights, saving money
- LEDs cut heat by over 80%, saving money and signature
- LEDs last over 50,000 hours
There really isn’t much question what light to use if you want to have a really successful grow operation, the only question remains, which light to buy. We will be releasing our 2016 grow light recommendations in early 2016, but you are safe to go with the great lights from manufactures we recommended in our 2015 review:
Since there seems to still be a debate within the light community, you should know that you can settle the questions yourself with either lots of research of your own testing. If you decide on your own testing start with a good meter that will let you measure your light intensity in Lumens for each level of Spectrum that your plants use.
